ABOUT

This series is based on the concept of Identity in Life. The way I expressed this, much like how I might sum up my own identity, is very mangled. Few pieces truly correspond to each other. They all feel different from one another in some way, aside from the usual similarities in style, and the aforementioned theme which I connected them to. It’s like stumbling upon a section of path that branches out numerous times. Some of these pieces were deeply personal to me and my experiences with identity, while others aimed for broader or even vague subject matter. Because, what is identity other than trying to relay yourself with the world? Or having no idea what you are doing?

Many of the pieces refer to different aspects of identity, as seen through life. I based on my own personal experiences figuring out my identity, as well as more broad concepts, especially modern-day issues. I find identity particularly important to the modern-day, as it is something that many newer generations have to deal with, including myself. Much of the composition of my works reflect this. Some of my work induces repetition and more abstract compositional choices, while others employ a more head-on look at their subjects. I feel these are both ways that are accurate to a portrayal of identity. I also attempted to create multiple messages from these pieces, based on my observations on my and other’s experiences with identity.
